Why drink a cocktail from a tea cup?

First of all, why not? But more so, inspired on legendary stories from prohibition periods all over the world. When making, drinking or selling alcohol was made illegal, underground bars were created from posh gentle men clubs to drinking caves.. As police would patrol regularly, many places thought of ways to fool them.

This is where the teacup comes from. Patrons would sit or stand around the "bar" with teacups in hand, presumably filled with tea. Or at least that’s what the police would think if they chose to raid the place. Many drinking places had special viewpoints to watch for police. If someone would spot cops, everyone would quickly drink their liquor and hold on to their teacups. Giving the nonchalant appearance of a social gathering.

Today, we thankfully don't need to come up with an excuse to drink a cocktail at home. But in a way we are in a prohibition period ourselves, with bars closed and no alcohol sold after eight o'clock at night.

The Royal Gift invites your to enjoy a drink at home while dreaming of far away destinations, historic castles and secretive underground bars.

Enjoy a special prohibition-era winter cocktail from locally brewed drinks.
